Sold Art works ( Advice how to sell your artwork)

Many artists create wonderful artworks, but the biggest challenge is selling them. I feel fortunate to have sold 150 artworks so far. Based on my experience, I’d like to offer some advice on how to sell your artwork.

When creating any piece, do not think about selling it. Create for yourself and enjoy the process. When you put your heart and soul into your work, it will undoubtedly resonate with someone. Sometimes the results are good, and sometimes they are not but don’t be disheartened. Whether it’s a landscape, still life, or abstract piece, it’s all fine!

As an artist, many fellow artists, art lovers, and curators will advise you to develop your signature style. To some extent, this can be helpful, but I’ve often seen artists create repetitive works that sell the most. I don’t believe in a strict signature style; instead, I enjoy the process more than the product. Sometimes there are similarities in my work, and sometimes there are not, and I don’t worry about it. I believe that when you work continuously, a style naturally develops in the way you draw, apply color, or use mediums.

now let's stick to the point of how you can sell.

1. Build an Online Presence

  • Website: Create a professional website to showcase your portfolio, including high-quality images and detailed descriptions of each piece.
  • Social Media: Use platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest to share your art and engage with potential buyers. Regularly post updates and behind-the-scenes content.

2. Online Marketplaces

  • Etsy: A popular platform for artists to sell original works and prints.
  • Saatchi Art: An online gallery that connects artists with buyers globally.
  • Artfinder: A marketplace specifically for original art.

  • Collaborations: Partner with other artists or businesses for joint exhibitions or events.

5. Email Marketing

  • Newsletter: Build an email list of interested customers and send regular updates about new works, exhibitions, and special offers.

6. Offer Limited Editions

  • Create limited edition prints of popular pieces to attract collectors and increase perceived value.

7. Pricing Your Work

  • Research similar artists and artworks to set competitive prices. Consider factors like materials, time spent, and market demand.

8. Art Fairs and Markets

  • Set up a booth at local art fairs or craft markets to showcase and sell your work directly to the public.
